Regular Dental Checkups in Revere

A regular checkup consists of routine examinations and treatments that are necessary for all patients. By receiving a regular dental checkup at least once every six months, a patient will give themselves the best chance to maintain positive oral health. After a checkup, the patient will know exactly where they stand in terms of their oral health and what they may need to do to improve it.

One of the goals of a regular checkup is to detect any oral health problems that have developed since the patient’s last visit. We also monitor issues that were present before to determine if any changes have occurred. The best way to do this is with a complete examination that provides us with a thorough look at the patient’s teeth and gums. We may also take X-rays and use DIAGNOdent technology to check for any hidden issues that couldn’t be detected otherwise. A complete cleaning is also provided to help combat surface stains and to ensure that bacteria and plaque are removed.

The following services are provided during a regular checkup:

  • Examination: The full examination allows our dentists to obtain a more complete and thorough look at the patient’s teeth than what they can achieve on their own. We use dental tools to check the teeth and gums from every possible angle. Our team knows exactly what to look for, and we are adept at spotting problems like cavities or gum disease. Based on our findings, we can create a personalized treatment plan and recommend specific treatments if necessary.
  • Professional Cleaning: A professional cleaning provides a deeper cleanse than what is possible with at-home brushing and flossing. This treatment is the best way to eliminate tartar and bacterial buildup that occurs over time. Our hygienist will remove unwanted matter from the teeth surfaces and cleanse and polish the teeth to remove surface stains and promote fresh breath.
  • X-Rays: We may take traditional or digital X-rays to obtain a look at the mouth’s hidden structures and to detect problems and issues that are invisible to the naked eye. With digital X-rays, we can upload the images to a monitor so that we can more easily share any findings with the patient. Some of the conditions that are commonly detected using X-rays include tooth decay, gum disease, jawbone deterioration, cysts, oral cancer and more.
  • DIAGNOdent: We use DIAGNOdent technology to check for cavities and other forms of tooth decay. This painless process involves using a special device to scan the teeth and determine if there is any interior decay. A DIAGNOdent scan is also an ideal way to check for any signs of gum disease.
